Actually, although an easy-going breed the Labrador can develop bad habits such as barking, chewing, or digging, just like any dog. The key to avoiding this is providing plenty of exercises and also mental stimulation. Luckily, obedience training can help you with both of these.
The answer to your question is to find another home for the puppy where someone will love and pay attention to him. You should never be tying a puppy up at this age, if you have to tie up a puppy, you should not have gotten a puppy.
Today there is no place for harsh punishments and losing temper. Fortunately, for the last few decades, canine psychology and behavior is being given more importance and based on such aspects, dog training is now about loads of patience and positive reinforcements. Niki is a Poodle/Bichon mix we adopted from the Humane Society. I immediately scheduled sessions with Pat. After just a few weeks, Niki sleeps willingly in her crate all night without a sound, waits for me to go through the door first, barks less and stops when I say, is polite with my family and visitors, and doesn’t pull on the leash or bark on walks. – Betty, Santa Rosa, CA
The version of the vaccine must cover the H3N2 strain. If your dog has never had this vaccine, please note that it is administered in 2 doses, 3 – 5 weeks apart. After that, they should get an annual booster.
You can do this by crating him for a few minutes, or by cuddling him in your arms. I recommend the cuddle option for the first few days, that way you can introduce the crate gradually once he has settled into his new home.

Many other owners have no trouble getting their dog to walk nicely on a lead in the garden, but find themselves dragged of their feet within minutes of leaving the garden gate or whenever a passerby approaches.
RD is amazing! She has a gift with dogs and the people who love them. We have a rescue dog that goes crazy whenever she sees other dogs and I thought we would have to keep this dog secluded in our y…ard for the rest of our lives but RD has taught us that we can manage and tame this reactivity.
We are so glad we found Training Tracks when we got our Affenpinscher from the shelter. Mel worked to help her overcome her incredible shyness, and each month she comes around a little more. She now e…
The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that employment of animal trainers in the United States will grow by 15 percent between 2012 and 2020, faster than the average growth for all occupations. The BLS expects that demand for animal care services will grow over the next several years, and that job prospects will be good for animal care workers such as dog trainers.
Having a trained dog isn’t the same as having a balanced dog, but if your dog knows a few basic commands, it can be helpful when tackling problem behaviors — existing ones or those that may develop in the future.
The best thing about in-home training is our ability to meet the needs of customers on a variety of budgets. Sometimes clients want us to focus on one or two behaviors, while others prefer a more complete package.
RD was recommended to us by the rescue (One Tail at a Time) where we got our dog, Ruby. We knew we were going to have to work with Ruby a lot on multiple issues. She had been in multiple shelters and …although she was well potty trained and liked her crate, she had not been through a lot of normal puppy and people socialization. We were pretty desperate for help and RD brought it. She was able to get us a training within the same day as Ruby’s initial evaluation because her schedule was free. We saw a complete change in Ruby after one visit. After working with her a couple weeks, we had RD back and she was able to bring a couple dogs so we could get Ruby used to walking and being around other dogs in our home. Each time, we learn more about dog behavior and how we can behave to help Ruby progress. RD’s manner is direct and kind and she is always reassuring. She helped us recognize the difference between puppy behavior and breed behavior. We’re so happy to have met RD and feel more and more confident in helping Ruby be happy and healthy. See More
Biting during play is often due to over excitement. Try and control the play so he doesn’t become over excited. One way to do this is to play for 15 second bursts, where you set down toys and don’t interact again until the puppy is sitting attentively. This short ‘time out’ sessions stop him getting too revved up. Plus, if he does nip, stop the game immediately and leave the room. This sends out the message that if he bites, the game ends.
The staff was always wonderful. Our little pup came home exhausted and slept for the next two days (something worth it’s weight in gold when you have a puppy). Now we have a wonderfully socialized pet who gets along swimmingly with any dogs she meets (and I give dog school most of the credit for that).

One of the most common questions dog owners ask me is: “How can I stop my dog from doing (a specific bad behavior)?” My answer is almost always the same, no matter what the misbehavior is…. [read more]
So if the dog in question is sitting quietly next to his owner on the far side of a field, that would be a far less powerful distraction than the dog which is racing around chasing a frisby twenty yards away.
All we can say is “Thank God for Mike”! He has turned Zoey around with the training techniques and in turn calmed our household down. We could not be more pleased with how the training has turned out, we actually saw a difference after the first session. I would highly recommend Mike to anyone who is in desperate need of the training.

Some dogs trained this way can appear quite ‘cowed’ and nervous. Nowadays this kind of treatment of dogs is not popular and the challenge method is beginning to fall into disrepute due to the harsh punishments that can be involved.
Dayton Dog Trainer offers several types of real dog training. Choose from basic obedience, advanced obedience, behavior modification and much more. Dayton Dog Trainer specializes in fixing aggressive dogs. If you are having issues with your dog being aggressive … give us a call. We love the challenge of helping you fix your dog’s aggression issues. Our basic dog obedience is more than the average course. What most trainers consider advanced … we consider basic. Many of the common issues we see are … bombarding guests at the door, excessive barking, getting on the furniture, digging holes in the yard or the flower boxes, begging for food as well as other crazy things that dogs do. These types of house manner issues cannot be fixed in some guys store across town or in a Petsmart dog training course.
Also, she looks to me as her main caregiver (literally follows me everywhere)… do you have any tips on ways I could introduce the puppies to her? I’m expecting she will have some initial feelings of resentment towards them and be territorial since she has been the only dog we have had, so I’d like to try aid this transition as best I can. Although in the end I feel like a lot of it will be them feeling each other out. Any other advice you could give on this situation would be greatly appreciated, thanks so much!
Hold a treat in front of the pup’s nose. Keeping the treat very close to the dog, travel the treat down the dog’s brisket to the floor. In an attempt to follow the treat the pup should drop to the ground, at which point say “Down” and give him the treat.
