In our most popular in-home dog training program, our trainers come to your home or office several times a week to train your dog for you – even while you’re at work. It’s much faster and easier than doing it yourself, because both you and your dog get the ideal learning experience. Your dog learns straight from the experts, and you get to learn with a dog who is already really well-trained.
Hey I have a 7 month old male lab retriever, I have tried and tried to teach him obedience but with no luck he just doesn’t do it. He is very energetic as would all puppies be, but he seems to me to have a lack of respect and basically just runs rings round me. Out walking he pulls, he runs after everything! Birds, leaves, people, dogs, any vehicle, heck even if the wind blows the grass he tries to catch it… He’s awful when someone passes, if he sees another dog he goes completely nuts and will stop at nothing to get to them.. To the point of knocking me down or biting for restraining him. I’ve tried averting his attention but that definitely doesn’t work… He knocks over the kids and pulls on their tops. He jumps up and he bits a lot, I thought this was mouthing but any time you put your hand out to pet him he tries to snap it. He has excited urination which has been a challenge to get over but we have managed that (sort of)…before we got him a read a tone of books and researched a lot on training but it’s just not worked… Is it me? I don’t believe harsh punishment works, plenty praise and plenty love and affection but when your bitten or nipped on the legs every time your back is to him, he tears into possessions and just runs a mockery I’m at my wits end! HELP!!!
My dog and I have been working with RD for a couple of months now and I am amazed at the knowledge and guidance she has provided me with my dog. I have a reactive dog and http://rentabilisermapassion.org/anik-singal-empire-formule-definition-dentreprise-de-croissance/ tried other trainers with no luck. I am seeing more progress with my dog in the last couple of months than any of the previous attempts at training. RD helps you become a relaxed and confident leader which is exactly what my dogs needs. I could not recommend her enough!!
It is essential for your dog to bond with people and get exposed to different situations. Take your dog to places such as a park for an opportunity to socialize and play with children and other dogs. It is important for your dog to get acquainted with your world. This contributes to your dog’s well-being.
This is as prevalent in young, green dogs as breaking is in older hunting dogs. Both problems stem from a lack of obedience. If a dog is well trained to heel, sit, stay and come, he’ll do nearly anything you want. The problem lies in the definition of “well trained.”

After ONE session with RD, we are seeing drastic improvement in our pup… ok, really it’s drastic improvement in ourselves. RD showed us how we have been giving the wrong signals to our dog, so while… trying to correct the behavior we were actually reinforcing the wrong behavior. We are filled with hope. For the first time in over a year, we went on a walk that was peaceful. I got home feeling calm rather than worked up, so did the pup– and because our dog is a 160 lb Mastiff, it’s the first walk that I didn’t have to immediately make an appointment with the chiropractor afterward!! Thank you, RD we are SOOOO incredibly grateful! See More
Summer comes and it is so hot we can’t do some of the outside activities with our dog that we usually do. We don’t have our dog training classes during the summer months here due to the heat. No one wants to be out in the heat, and certainly our dogs who wear fur…

We train any age, any breed of dog. So, you can start your new puppy off on the right track with our puppy training obedience courses, or work with your older dog on behaviors that need help. Rescue dogs are common in Columbia, SC and we love helping them and their owners adjust to each other so they can stay in their “fur”ever homes! Whether you have rescued a dog from a shelter, or found your perfect match from a breeder, we will be happy to help you get them adjusted to their new home! Using obedience and our behavior modification techniques, our trainers can help any dog go from being a “bad dog” to a well-behaved member of your pack.
The most effective way to train your dog is to use modern, science based positive reinforcement. If you reward your dog for the behavior you want, your dog comes to understand what is expected. Reward based training is effective, humane , fast and fun! Another result of this type of training is that your dog trusts you and becomes a thinking, self-confident dog who learns to make good choices. The way you train your dog determines the relationship you have with your dog. By using the Home Dog Training Positively method, you will acquire both the knowledge and the skill to help your dog become a well behaved member of the family.

By sticking to your training, being consistent and sticking to routines…and that’s key…he will eventually come out of growing pains and adolescence into an adult dog with ingrained training and learning that he will settle into and hopefully be a well mannered, well-behaved joy for you to marvel at and enjoy for the best part or more of another decade.
Please bring the following to each class: your dog’s bed/blanket, a selection of your dog’s favourite treats and one or two of his/her favourite toys. If your dog requires any medication or has a specialised diet, please bring these to class – it’s also important to get in touch with your coach to let them know about this before the class as well.
Dogs are pack animals. They are genetically geared to work with others – be it other dogs or humans. However, they need leadership and boundaries if they’re to be truly happy. Part of being a responsible owner is to realize your dog requires more from you than just food, water, and the occasional walk.
I rescued my beautiful girl Abby seven months ago, and thanks to Canine Dimensions my boxer mix puppy is turning into a well-mannered young adult. They helped me work with her leash aggression, play biting, jumping, and all of the other traits that come with such an intelligent and energetic dog. Most importantly they taught me how to have the confidence to handle Abby in all situations. Thank you!
Our program is best described as intimate. Our student to instructor ratio is literally no more than 3 to 1. Everyone gets to work dogs, and nobody just watches. Training with the instructors is informal and interactive. Questions about method and alternatives are encouraged. Many other schools are large and impersonal, and the bulk of your time is spent only training your own dogs. In this business you will be training the dogs of strangers or dogs for police work that have no handler to bond to. You have to have the skills to extract behaviors from all different temperaments and breeds to be successful. Our students are successful in the Pet Training Industry as well as in the Police K9, working dog and sport worlds.
The young pup looks to you for guidance. Never punish him either physically or with a harsh scolding as this will make him fearful of you. Old-fashioned training methods relied on dominating the dog, but we now know dogs trained this way obeyed out of fear rather than thinking through what’s wanted and obeying to please you.
One of the most common questions dog owners ask me is: “How can I stop my dog from doing (a specific bad behavior)?” My answer is almost always the same, no matter what the misbehavior is…. [read more]

In general, those individuals employed as dog trainers are largely “self educated”. This means they have read extensively on behavior modification and dog ethology, attended seminars, workshops and conventions, and perhaps mentored with other trainers. There are some “dog training schools”. As a matter of policy, at this time the APDT cannot endorse any of the selected training programs that are available around the country. When you investigate a school, be sure to inquire about methods used.
