Crate training is the process by which you teach your dog to see their crate as their own special place. A place where they can go to get away from things, to relax and where they feel safe and secure. Accomplish this and the crate becomes a huge benefit to both you and your dog.
Dog behavior training is so much more than dog training! Dog behavior training combines a thorough understanding of dog behavior, canine learning theory, and hands-on dog training methods in order to create lasting behavior change. This is why our training methods have been referred by vets for over 26 years. It is applicable to all sorts of training needs, but is mandatory for the resolution of dog behavior problems such as aggression and anxiety.
“When I found Animal Behavior College I knew I had chosen the right program. It fit with my busy life and work schedule. I loved that I was able to work at home In my opinion, ABC is also very affordable.” – Fashawn Burgess
Maybe someone could help me please. I have a 14 week old yellow lab. He has no problem holding himself in the crate and most of the time when loose in the house. However, when he does have a urination mistake when loose in the house it’s always on his own bed. No other place. It has only been 3 times since we got him a month ago. But it’s 3 times too many. We have now taken his bed away but I feel bad that he doesn’t have a comfortable place to lay. Has anyone had this problem or if anyone has any suggestions please feel free to help. Thank you so much!

Most of the time we keep him in his crate which is large enough for him to stand and can easily stress his legs. Only for giving him food and potty we take him out and sometimes for playing with him till he gets exhausted and want to rest. Rest of the time he lives in the crate only and he is comfortable in it.”
It’s the same with dogs. Most “disobedient” dogs were never given the proper structure and training to make them model canine citizens. They were never shown what was expected of them, and they never learned how to communicate with their owners.

No Labrador obedience training is complete and successful without positive reinforcements. These are the praises, kind words and treats you give your Labs if he does the right thing. While you teach your dog how to sit or stand, commend him with a good praise like “Good dog”, along with a tap on his head and a treat. This will encourage him to do more training and to do the right thing every time the same command is implemented.
“All” training will be “Basic” Training: Come, Sit, Sit/Stays, Down, Down/Stays, Heeling, teaching “Position” etc. Includes our Boot camp program…. For these Classes we won’t be doing any competitive Obedience training’s at this time.

In addition to an hourly wage, it isn’t uncommon for dog trainers to earn bonuses or commissions for their work, increasing their income for the year. Petropolis, an academy for animal grooming and training, shows that dog trainers can earn up to an additional $10,304 a year in bonuses, and anywhere from $2,150 to $9,000 in commissions. Of course, this all depends on the employer.

However, a training class serves many functions. Trainers can demonstrate techniques and help guide you through the steps in training. They can help advise you on puppy training problems, and can help you advance your training to exercises that are more difficult. The puppy will be learning in a group situation, with some real life distractions. And, considering human nature, the pet owner who takes his or her dog to a puppy class will be forced to practice (do their homework) throughout the week if they do not want to fall behind by the next class. Finally, a training class is a good place to meet and talk to other new puppy owners and see how all puppies behave.
RD has been amazing to work with! She really knows how both the owner and animal need to interact, and we are so pleased with the guidance we have received from her. She will not only come to your hom…e so that your pup is in his/her surroundings, but will take time to show you how to train common commands and break bad habits. She is up front with the information, answers any questions you have, and has patience. She is well deserving of 5 stars See More
‘Look’ has the dog focus on your face, and is a great way of distracting him from situations where he might be fearful or run off. Hold a treat by the dog’s nose and then slowly raise the treat until it’s resting on the bridge of your nose. The pup will watch the treat and end up appearing to stare into your eyes. Say “Look”. Have him stare at the treat for 10 seconds and then give it to him. Slowly build up the amount of time he has to look before he gets the treat.
Do you love dogs? Would you like to learn how to become a dog trainer? Animal Behavior College’s Dog Trainer Program has certified more than 12,000 dog trainers (ABCDT) across North America since 1998. Our dog training certification program includes both real world training with a Mentor Trainer in your local area, who uses positive reinforcement dog training methods, as well as an online dog training course. This hybrid real world/home-study course ensures you’ll receive a solid academic and functional foundation in dog training.
Use these training tasks as you integrate the puppy into your life. For example, ask your puppy to “sit” prior to receiving her food, “sit” before you let her in or out the door, and “sit” before you pet her. These are times when your puppy wants something and is more likely to comply. In this way, you are training your dog all the time, throughout the day and also establishing predictable rules and routines for interactions and helping the dog to learn who controls the resources. Training your puppy prior to getting each requested necessity, helps to prevent problems. Having your puppy sit before getting a food or treat prevents begging, while teaching your dog to sit before opening the door can prevent jumping up or running out the door. Be creative. The time you spend training your puppy now will pay off when you have an adult dog. To have a well-trained dog, you need to be committedto reinforcing the training tasks on nearly a daily basis for the first year of your puppy’s life. The more you teach and supervise your puppy, the less opportunity it will have to engage in improper behaviors. Dogs do not train themselves, when left to choose their behavior they will act like dogs.
It seems the problems with the practice of conventional veterinary medicine are going from bad to worse, and now the profit potential has big corporations buying up individual vet practices at a rapid pace.

Joanne gave me great directions on how to correct Laila’s problem areas. I took Laila for a long walk after she left, and I walked Laila instead of Laila walking me. Since Joanne came to our home, Laila’s behavior is already like night and day. We are committed to the program!

Now that I’ve experienced other dog daycares I love Dog School even more. In our new home, Austin TX, many of the dog daycares used crates for a large portion of the day. I loved the fact that she could run around free at Dog School all day if she wanted to. We miss this place!!!
