Tater was our bad little deaf rescue puppy. He barked at everything that passed our window. He pulled us down the street while he chased everything with four wheels, two legs or four paws. Tater would come home from walks with back pockets in his mouth. This was our first dog and we needed help. Training Tracks came highly recommended with special experience in training deaf dogs. They knew how to handle our special needs puppy. With only a few sessions, Tater began to respond amazingly…

No! Don’t give up! At 10 months old he isn’t even yet a teenager and you wouldn’t give up on a 9 or 10 year old boy! I have an 11yo son: He still runs into things, eats the things I say he shouldn’t from the worktops and runs away from my side when we’re out and about too! haha.

RD has been a blessing to our dogs. We have seen multiple trainers and no one was able to help us with the issues we were having with one our two dogs except for RD. With patience, trial and error, an…d trying to work within our means, we were able to find successful tactics to help both our dogs and us have a better quality of life. She reminded us that dogs are not like broken objects you can take to the repair shop for a one stop fix. She can give you the tools that work best for your lifestyle to help you and your dog have a better life, but it’s up to you to implement the tools and bring consistency. We highly recommend RD and are better dog parents for having met her! See More

The gist of all this is that the average hunter is low in dog-training skills, which is as it should be. The community of dog experts should be promoting the selective breeding of a dog that the average hunter can train and enjoy. We should not be breeding a dog with a bundle of genetically transmitted behavioral tendencies that make him difficult to train into a good working dog. The average hunter should not have to get a Ph.D. in dog training in order to come up with a dog that is pleasant to hunt with and pleasant to live with.

Some people believe that the only way to transform a disobedient dog into a well-behaved one is to dominate her and show her who’s boss. However, the “alpha dog” concept in dog training is based more on myth than on animal science. More importantly, it leads misguided pet parents to use training techniques that aren’t safe, like the “alpha roll.” Dogs who are forcibly rolled onto their backs and held down can become frightened and confused, and they’re sometimes driven to bite in self defense.

We immediately have noticed a difference in our dog after one session. She was so responsive during the session it was like night and day. I am actually disappointed we didn’t find this service sooner…. RD genuinely takes time to work with you and your dog and gives you tools to set you up for long term success. The sessions aren’t based on a specific time limit, which is amazing because our little dog needs some specialized attention. We are so thankful for our new trainer and how our pup’s behavior is changing! See More

Use real rewards Be sure to reward your dog with things she truly finds rewarding. Some dogs will happily work for dry kibble when training in your living room but ignore it if you’re training in the park. Because the park’s a more distracting environment, paying attention there is a harder job for your dog. Pay her accordingly by using a reward worth working for, like small pieces of chicken or cheese, or a chance to run off-leash at the dog park with her buddies. Also keep in mind that what your dog considers rewarding at any given time may change. If she’s just eaten a big meal, a scratch behind the ears or a game of tug might be most rewarding. If she hasn’t eaten in a while, she’ll probably work enthusiastically for tasty treats.

I used to work from home, so even though my wife was in office, I used to take my dog out for a walk once every 3 hrs and never tied it nor locked it in. Fortunately my puppy got very well potty trained, also is good with strangers and new family members, even kids.
