React consistently to bites. Every time your puppy bites, say “NO!” in a firm voice. Then just walk away and ignore the puppy. Social isolation and time outs can be an effective form of punishment for a pack animal. You can also yelp when your puppy bites too hard. It might seem silly but puppies in a litter will cry out if a sibling accidentally bites too hard. Yelping when your puppy lays teeth on your will give feedback to very young puppies about what is acceptable playing and what isn’t.

RD is amazing! Seriously, best dog trainer I’ve ever worked with! And there has been a few. When my girlfriend told me she booked an appointment for our dog troubles I was skeptical, to say the least…. She arrived on time, she introduced herself and got immediately to work. I have a German Shepherd that has aggression issues and a few others. We put our dog in his kennel prior to her arrival. She asked us to exit the room so there were no extra energies (fear from us) present. Within five minutes our dog had silenced his disapproval of her presence in ‘his’ house and she invited us back into the room. To our amazement, our dog was out of his kennel, and leashed by her side. This was shocking! I never would’ve believed it if I wasn’t there as a witness. She diagnosed our dog, showed us how to work him past his issues and take control of our household again. Her rates are affordable, she’s incredibly intelligent and a downright cool person to work with. I highly, highly, highly recommend giving her a chance to earn your business! You won’t regret it. Anybody who is involved in the care of your dog is encouraged to come along to class, including children. Please bear in mind that your coaches will be talking to the class on a group level to teach you valuable key messages about behaviour, so it is important that anybody attending is able to listen quietly (if young children are attending it could be a good idea to bring something to keep them occupied with at these times). Let your coach know if you have any special requirements or will have more than 3 people attending with your dog, so that they can prepare and make sure there is enough space. To make sure you can concentrate on training your puppy, we would ask that you leave any other pets (including other dogs) at home.
As the franchise owner and head trainer of Sit Means Sit Knoxville I have owned and loved dogs my entire life. In 2004 I started training them in the Sit Means Sit system. When I first started as a client of Sit Means Sit Denver CO I had an aggressive Chocolate Labrador who had been through two other “professional” trainers. Other trainers couldn’t help us, which fortunately then led us to Dave Skoletsky and Sit Means Sit.

Training Tracks did wonders for our energetic blue heeler mix. She went from a timid, excitable puppy to a well-behaved dog with confidence. Mel and Jeff taught us how to bring out the best in our dog. We had no idea how much potential she had! As owners, we were taught how to solve behavior problems by breaking down training into mini-steps. Our dog absolutely loved the classes, and we’re not sure who learned more, she or us!
