This place is great. We brought our puppy in last week since I was going away for a conference, and he absolutely loved it. He couldn’t wait to go back on Wednesday. And he came back to us so tired and happy! We are fortunate that our pup loves other dogs and people, but even so, a lot of credit is due to Dog School. They keep safe clean conditions for the dogs and constantly supervise.Their hours and locations are really convenient for us. We feel confident in their team and will gladly return!
Keep in mind that ditching the “alpha dog” concept doesn’t mean you have to let your dog do anything she likes. It’s fine to be the boss and make the rules-but you can do that without unnecessary conflict. Be a benevolent boss, not a bully. Good leadership isn’t about dominance and power struggles. It’s about controlling your dog’s behavior by controlling her access to things she wants. YOU have the opposable thumbs that open cans of dog food, turn doorknobs and throw tennis balls! Use them to your best advantage. If your dog wants to go out, ask her to sit before you open the door. When she wants dinner, ask her to lie down to earn it. Does she want to go for a walk? If she’s jumping up on you with excitement, wait calmly until she sits. Then clip on the leash and take your walk. Your dog will happily work for everything she loves in life. She can learn to do what you want in order to earn what she wants.

React consistently to bites. Every time your puppy bites, say “NO!” in a firm voice. Then just walk away and ignore the puppy. Social isolation and time outs can be an effective form of punishment for a pack animal. You can also yelp when your puppy bites too hard. It might seem silly but puppies in a litter will cry out if a sibling accidentally bites too hard. Yelping when your puppy lays teeth on your will give feedback to very young puppies about what is acceptable playing and what isn’t.

You don’t expect a child to act all grown up, eating only what they’re supposed to, playing with only their toys, staying exactly where you ask them to and listening intently to your every word doing exactly as they’re told.
Fantastic! I was referred to Training Tracks by my vet for aggression issues with my puppy. Jeff did in-home training sessions with our entire family to teach us how to minimize this behavior. He is e…
You can make a start with potty training right from the very first day you bring your puppy home. In fact, it is important that you do this and that you make an effort to avoid ‘accidents’ even in those very early day.

3. I was concerned about dogs beating the shit out of my dog..he’s a lover not a fighter! He just got bitch slapped by a 12 week old pug at the dog park..man she was sassy. Anyway, I was concerned because some dogs don’t like his smushed face/colorful bow ties and go after him. I haven’t found any nicks, scabs, or black eyes so that’s always a good sign!
Although referring to all breeds in general and not purely Labradors, for those of you that love to watch and not read, the series of dog training videos on www.dogstrust.org.uk are well worth a look.
In order to train your Labrador effectively, you’ll need the right tools for the job. The next few articles discuss the various tools and equipment available and how and when you should use them…if at all…as I do not recommend them all.

There is no formal apprenticeship system in dog training, but opportunities to work with other experienced trainers and a large variety of dogs is essential to your education. Volunteering with shelters and local rescue groups is also extremely helpful to introduce you to a range of canine personalities, breeds etc. When you look for a trainer to mentor with, make sure the that trainer is committed to furthering his or her own education, is open to learning about a variety of methods, and is devoted to humane training methods.
I’m that kind of person who likes to be prepared. Before our new member of the family arrived I have read all smart books about how to train the dog. I thought I’m the dog whisperer! Easy right? But t…hen reality comes and I’m facing this four legs and tail with head full of information- and nothing turns out like i thought it would! I was lucky to meet RD- professional, loving what she’s doing and most of all patient (not only toward dogs but their owners too) dog trainer. Few hours together and I could see positive changes in my dog and me! There is still lots of work but we are getting there! See More
Training your Labrador to walk nicely on a leash isn’t the easiest thing to do but it’s one of the most beneficial, making walks so much easier and far more enjoyable. The following articles give guidance on how you can achieve this:
While their teeth may be sharp, labradors are RETRIEVERS. The light biting is called mouthing. These dogs are instinctly bred to do this, as they require to apply gentle pressure when retrieving game such as birds and ducks. They are considered sporting dogs.
This is a very big difference and inevitably leads to questions such as: When should I start training my Labrador puppy? What can a Labrador learn at such a young age? Is my Labrador puppy too young to train?
I can’t rave about Philly Dog School enough. They are friendly and accommodating and most of all genuinely love all the dogs they look after everyday. Also, they don’t require prior reservations, which some daycares do. You just show up, drop your pooch off, and pick http://rentabilisermapassion.org/augmenter-votre-subvention-du-gouvernement-des-affaires-des-conseils-pour-demarrer-une-entreprise-rentable/ up nice and tired!
It’s that extra-credit project that finally allows Matt to show the type of things he’s good at, such as dog sledding. Moreover, it’s that extra-credit project that shows Matt there are friends out in the world to be made outside of school, and successfully doing what one loves is what creates confidence and happiness. This children’s book is a wonderful read that quietly teaches life lessons, as well as educates young readers about the many fascinating facets of dog sledding.
