I love these books so I was hoping to get this one for the first day of school. I was disappointed that the size of the book is smaller than I expected. I did not check the size of the book before I ordered it (the thought never crossed my mind), but I expected that it would be the same size as the other books in this series. It’s a little small for doing a read aloud to a group of children.

They did not let my 13 month join as despite having the core vaccines, she does not have LEPTO 4 vaccine – my vet is perfectly happy with this. My last girl died 9 days after this vaccine so I was no…t letting my new girl have it. Dog School have refused us join advanced classes because she has not had LEPTO 4. Really upset ūüôĀ When my dog started puppy classes else where, they were perfectly happy that she hadn’t had this particular vaccine. See More

Rewarding the puppy by giving it a treat after wearing the muzzle can help the dog associate the muzzle with something good. This makes it less likely to be wary of you or aggressive, and it makes the whole process easier for both you and the dog.

I have a 3 yr old choc lab who is very well behaved normally, however in the last 2 weeks or so he has started mounting other dogs when off lead. His recall is good but hardly ever stops humping the dogs when called off. He has never done this before, can it be a sudden new behaviour or maybe a medical condition causing this? ( ive heard it could sometimes be from urinary tract infection?) Some advice would be great as my vets aren’t brilliant.

We describe these programs as the programs for the clients who don’t mind the twists and turns of the road. Every dog represents its own unique challenge, they like to throw curve balls at their owners during the training process. We show the clients how to hit those curveballs. As with all of our programs these programs are designed to control your dog with :

With group classes, in-home private lessons, behavior modification programs for both dogs and cats, plus evening, daytime and weekend hours, it couldn’t be more convenient. All dogs can learn, and we take pride in making it an enjoyable experience for all involved.

Mny thanks for the site. In India pups are always provided at 40 days as a standard. I wish i’d read your site earlier and followed your advice on taking our lab put at 8 weeks. He came to us at 40 days and is now going to turn 12 weeks tomorrow. We love him to death and is spoilt silly. He is the new baby in the family and asks for attention when he doesnt get it like when we have to leave him some time and go downstairs. He is super chatty and tries to communicate all the time. The problem though is he is a barky and neighbours arent taking well to all the noise. Am not sure if there is anything i can do about it. Please help.

Ryan, Cody, and the team rock! The dog walks during the day give me peace of mind and my little buddy is always happy when I get home. I love the texts I get from them letting me know that my guy is doing well during my long work days. Amazing, personal, and friendly service.

If a dog doesn’t meet expectations at the end of a training course, it is as likely to be related to the training course or the pet owner as the dog. A recommended next step would be to carefully research more training methods and local trainers to find a program that is better suited to your dog. Another one is to consider whether lack of commitment, inconsistent at-home practice,  or an inconsistent discipline/reward system may have undermined the training program.

I place the blame for this on our field-trial system. Our retriever field trials were brought over from England in the early 1900s, along with the golden and Labrador retrievers. The trials were small and very representative of a day’s shooting, and the skills judged were those that had value to the hunting dog and hunter. The trials emphasized game-finding ability, softness of mouth and calmness of demeanor.

We have had two in home sessions with RD now, working on basic puppy training for our 3 month old, as well as some issues without 12 y/o. She is awesome! The dogs love her and she gets results. She re…ally understands how the dog thinks, and uses that to her advantage. Also, a big part of dog training is owner training, and she‚Äôs done a great job of training me and my husband. Thanks RD! It’s easy to reward good behavior if you focus on teaching your dog to do specific things you like. Dogs can learn an impressive array of obedience skills and entertaining tricks. Deciding what you’d like your dog to learn will depend on your interests and lifestyle. If you want your dog to behave politely, you can focus on skills like sit, down, wait at doors, leave it, come when called and stay. If you want to enhance your enjoyment of outings with your dog, you can train her to walk politely on leash, without pulling. If you have a high-energy dog and would like outlets for her exuberance, you can teach her how to play fetch, play tug-of-war or participate in dog sports, such as agility, rally obedience, freestyle and flyball. If you’d like to impress your friends or just spend some quality time with your dog, you can take her to clicker training or trick-training classes. The possibilities are endless! Please see the following articles to find out more about what you and your dog can learn to do together: Teaching Your Dog Not to Jump Up on People, Teaching Your Dog to Come When Called, Teaching Your Dog Not to Pull on Leash, Teaching Your Dog to Play Tug-of-War, and Teaching Your Dog to Play Fetch.

I don’t know of the circumstances and it may have been out of your control, but your puppy should still be with their mother until 8 weeks of age, a couple of days earlier at a push, but 40 days is just way too soon and can result in severe health and development problems.

Your dog is taught and rewarded for desirable behavior, increasing his likelihood of repeating it. R+ training is reward-based, not punishment-based. You‚Äôll learn how to gain your dog’s cooperation without choke chains, prong collars, shock collars, or leash corrections. The result is a dog that obeys with enthusiasm, not fear.

Maybe someone could help me please. I have a 14 week old yellow lab. He has no problem holding himself in the crate and most of the time when loose in the house. However, when he does have a urination mistake when loose in the house it’s always on his own bed. No other place. It has only been 3 times since we got him a month ago. But it’s 3 times too many. We have now taken his bed away but I feel bad that he doesn’t have a comfortable place to lay. Has anyone had this problem or if anyone has any suggestions please feel free to help. Thank you so much!

We are so glad we found Training Tracks when we got our Affenpinscher from the shelter. Mel worked to help her overcome her incredible shyness, and each month she comes around a little more. She now even jumps on the couch to cuddle up next to me! Thanks, Mel! You were fantastic.

Moreover, Labradors are generally obedient dogs. So, it is imperative that you make use of such good characteristic in a pleasant way. Although Labradors may want to please you always, they can become aggressive when you do not set out proper training and approach.

One of the more common places we hear of often is the Petsmart dog training company. We have heard of people being asked to leave the Petsmart dog training course because their dog was too hyper or too rambunctious. Well, isn’t that why you are there? Isn’t that what you need help with? DDT is a lot different from the Petsmart dog training company.

Set in Copper Creek, Michigan that I couldn’t find on a map (though I found many retailers and other entities with Copper Creek in their name), Sled Dog School engages anyone who loves animals, kids, adventure, and a touch of how will this resolve (or will it?) in a story that includes Matt, his younger sister Lily, a math class assignment, and a heartening outcome. At least in the past, Michigan was major Copper Country, and it feels as if Copper Creek may be in the northern part of the state, possibly in the Upper Peninsula. We get sled dogs teams in a rural residential area, parents raising free range kids, a family living off the grid. An outhouse, no electric, no central heating, and enough snow for dog teams? Yes!

  1. After you decide on some new skills you’d like to teach your dog, you’ll be ready to start training. To maximize her learning potential and make sure you both enjoy the training experience, keep the following basic tips in mind:
While your Labrador may have learned to sit beautifully in your kitchen,  when you try and show off his new skill in your neighbour’s kitchen or whilst waiting outside school for your kids to emerge,  your dog will probably stand there wagging his  tail and looking stupid.
Using a long training lead on a rescue dog is often a very good idea.  The dog simply trails the lead around on the  ground whilst running free outdoors,  this gives you some control whilst allowing him some freedom
