Dogs learn by association, so if your puppy does something good, reward him. Then the action is much more likely to be repeated. But the reward must be linked to the action, so he must be rewarded quickly, within a second or two. The reward itself can be a few kibbles of puppy food or praise, or both.
A dog is not really fully house trained until he can comfortably wait several hours between wees, understands that the place to pee is always outside, and will try his best not to pee in the house if your are late home for some reason.
P.S. In the back of the book is a 27-word glossary of dog sledding terms, as well as a labeled diagram of a dog sled team. Keep in mind, too, that the sled dogs apparently are penned or chained when not running, something that may disturb some readers.
Our Basics program will focus on the comprehension of proper basic obedience skills. Enroll your dog with us and expect these skills and other new tricks to be performed on command. Developing communication and fundamental abilities here will benefit in application to your own everyday lives. We understand training will be challenging. At the same time, our trainers make sure that your dog’s experience it is equally fulfilling and rewarding. The more our students are happily engaged, the more we can accomplish. Start with basics. Enrich both of your lives and have a greater satisfaction with their education.
Teach children not to shriek, run or flap their hands because this will engage the puppy’s natural prey instincts and add to the problem. Children should remain calm and keep their hands closed and close to their bodies.
Does Lucky love the company of other dogs? Does she enjoy play with young dogs and puppies? If yes then I’d say go for it. If not, it might be a better idea to hold off. Is there a way you can test this by having her spend time with another puppy? This could be a good idea.
We hope you enjoy going though our web site. Our site has lots of photos for your viewing pleasure and as a means to enable you to obtain a good idea about the services we provide and who we are in relation to our kennel services; especially with our “Day Care” program.
At first you are going to let the puppy see the food in your hand so that you will have her attention and can use it to guide her into position. As your puppy begins to comply more readily, you can start to hide the food in your hand, but give the command and repeat the motion or signal that she has learned to follow. Soon the puppy will come to expect the treat each time she performs the task. Then, signal and give the command, but when she performs the task, reward only with praise and give the puppy an affectionate pat. Next, you can begin to vary the frequency, giving praise with “good dog” and perhaps patting each time, but giving the food randomly, perhaps every 3 or 4 times. In time, the puppy should respond to either the hand signal or the command.
I’m that kind of person who likes to be prepared. Before our new member of http://rentabilisermapassion.org/french/construire-une-entreprise-en-ligne-rentable-le-guide-non-sens-developper-votre-entreprise-avec-les-medias-sociaux/ family arrived I have read all smart books about how to train the dog. I thought I’m the dog whisperer! Easy right? But t…hen reality comes and I’m facing this four legs and tail with head full of information- and nothing turns out like i thought it would! I was lucky to meet RD- professional, loving what she’s doing and most of all patient (not only toward dogs but their owners too) dog trainer. Few hours together and I could see positive changes in my dog and me! There is still lots of work but we are getting there! See More
Remember that, early in training, your puppy does not know the meaning of the word. Therefore you could just as easily teach your puppy to sit with the word bananas (or sit in any other language) as you could with the word sit. The key is to associate the word, in this case “sit,” with the action of placing the hind end on the floor.

Some people just have an innate ability to connect with dogs and truly understand their behavior–RD is certainly one of those people! We welcomed 2 year old Charlie into our home about a month ago. …A loving, wonderful, smart dog–he aimed to please except that as soon as we put on a leash, he would just lay down. In one session, RD was able to have him trotting happily by our side–training US as well as him to identify the problematic behavior and correct it. She read him like a book, explaining to us what she was seeing as she saw it while simultaneously helping him to work through it. Thank you, RD!! See More

Quality Time Together: Spending time with your dog is an obvious benefit of putting in those training hours. After all, why did you get your furry friend if you don’t want to spend time building a relationship?
We are experienced dog trainers and have trained hundreds of dogs successfully in the Orlando area. Mike and Judy have owned dogs for their entire life. Mike began training dogs while he volunteered for a Golden Retriever Rescue in the early 1980’s when he acquired a very fearful and aggressive 9 month old golden retriever, Chelsea. Chelsea set Mike on a path of training his own dogs and eventually applied his skills to prepare other foster dogs for their forever homes. Judy manages The Orlando branch of Gold Coast Greyhound Adoptions, a non-profit greyhound adoption group. Under Judy’s leadership Gold Coast Greyhounds has fostered and placed over 2300 greyhounds since 2003. ” We discovered Bark Busters at just the right time. We had been answering dog behavioral questions for new adopters right from the start.” Experience, dedication and love for dogs made Bark Busters an obvious career choice.
One of the most frequent complaints of pet parents is that their dogs “just won’t listen.” But put yourself in your dog’s shoes for a moment. If someone was constantly chattering away in a foreign language that you’d never heard before, how long would you pay attention? Probably not for very long-because you simply wouldn’t be able to understand what the foreign speaker was trying to communicate.
If you can teach your dog polite manners without hurting or frightening her, why not do it? Rather than punishing her for all the things you don’t want her to do, concentrate on teaching your dog what you do want her to do. When your dog does something you like, convince her to do it again by rewarding her with something she loves. You’ll get the job done without damaging the relationship between you and your best friend.
I had a great time in your class and learned exactly what I needed. I love your style and the balance of your warmth, knowledge and individualized training. I am looking forward to the next class. – Nancy G., Santa Rosa, CA
Blah, blah, blah, bad dog! blah blah. Do you think your dog isn’t listening to you? Maybe you’re simply not speaking his language. You may have heard of dog whisperer or dog listener techniques. The Bark Busters dog training method is based on the way dogs communicate with each other and how they learn from older, more important dogs in the pack. This is what makes our dog training unique and effective.
It’s more the fact ‘as soon as you get them home’ and 8 weeks happens to be the age at which it’s recommended a puppy is taken from it’s mother and litter-mates to go to a new home. So owners don’t get their puppies before this age.
