Jimmy has done an amazing job with my 1-year-old mixed breed fur baby! She used to be afraid of her own shadow and wouldn’t go out the front door if their were kids playing outside or lawn mowers or anything, really. She heels like an absolute rock star now and we can even let her…

I’ve loads of advice, yes. Everything on this site basically! So, carry on doing what you seem to be doing which is reading and learning as much as you can – on this site and many others you can find by Googling – and then putting into practice as much as you can. If someone was constantly chattering away in a foreign language that you’d never heard before, how long would you pay attention? Probably not for very long-because you simply wouldn’t be able to understand what the foreign speaker was trying to communicate.

What if we lived in a country where it was acceptable to allow our human children to do whatever they wanted with their time? What if they weren’t put into structured learning environments like school or sports? No one gave them any direction. They had no rules, no boundaries, and no limitations. How well do you think those children would do at becoming productive citizens? Would they all be “bad” kids? Of course not! They would be the product of their environment.

2. He still bites (softly, but the teeth are sharp and can hurt at times) while playing or cuddling and I am worried, as, soon, we will be having our baby. My lab should not hurt the baby or get jealous. How to make him friendly and train him how to be around a baby.

The Bark Busters worldwide home dog training service guarantee is unique in the industry. It is designed to help owners resolve their dog’s behavior and obedience problems and to provide customers with the satisfaction of ongoing support and peace of mind.

Our dog training programs are simple and effective, and focus on just a handful of commands. We teach you to have your dog lie down and stay, to come when called, to go away when told, to follow, to heel, to wait, and to jump. Using this handful of commands, we are able to shape the dog’s behaviors and habits so that being calm and submissive become the dog’s default. Once these are in place, we then focus on more involved or specific training needs. The training is faster and easier because we have already put in place a pattern of obedience and trust on or off leash.

Consider putting her in a crate when you leave the house. If you don’t like crates, then consider a playpen. To train her to stop, when she bites you, pull her away and firmly say no. Don’t scare or punish her though. Just make sure she knows it is not okay.

Wouldn’t you like to have a well-mannered dog as a member of your family?  Most people would, but whether we like to admit it or not, most of our canine friends are in need of help when it comes to learning what we consider to be appropriate behavior. They do not always understand “our” rules and expectations, and they do not always understand what we are asking them to do. This lack of communication can cause frustration for both you and your pet, and this can unfortunately lead to bigger problems in the future. Providing training in order to give your dog the gift of understanding is the mission at Colonial Dog School. Only positive training methods are used because your best friend deserves it!

For nearly four years, I learned not only how to handle dogs, but also a good deal of information about how to care for a dog throughout their entire life. I then took that knowledge and expanded it after being hired as a full time employee at Village Veterinary Medical Center in Farragut. I also expanded my furry family by adopting an owner surrendered, mostly blind Cornish Rex cat that I named Wisp. I sometimes think she’s a dog in a cat body because she fetches and definetly understands what it means when I change my tone of voice or use body language with her.

  1. Ryan, Cody, and the team rock! The dog walks during the day give me peace of mind and my little buddy is always happy when I get home. I love the texts I get from them letting me know that my guy is doing well during my long work days. Amazing, personal, and friendly service.
    1)  One being for our  Day Care Program sometimes its “just” to cold, wet, or hot outdoors for our Day Care dogs to really enjoy the outdoors with their friends, so this building is going to take care of this, and “late Fall” we are going to be able to add another area of  supervised playtime  to the everyday schedule of our Day Care dogs.
