There are a few different models that are used when having a dog work in a school setting.   The majority of this website was built using the model where the school professional is also the handler and the animal works primarily out of the same building.   Copper has additional training beyond basic therapy dog courses that is specific to working in a public school.  He works at the school 3 days a week.  I like this model because I can educate all the people in the building about behavior expectations when Copper is working. I also know the students that Copper works with.  There is more information about this under the How to Get Started tab.

As a student of the Tom Rose School, you receive the most comprehensive dog-training education in the world. As a graduate you are in high demand domestically and internationally with prospective employers. If you choose to open your own business, you now have the skills and tools that put you above the competition.   Through lectures, demonstrations, and extensive supervised hands-on training, you learn a variety of dog training theories and techniques, and how to apply them. Our programs challenge you to develop unique training methods and problem-solving techniques, and you gain experience working with a wide range of dog personalities and temperaments.   Students do not graduate simply because they attend the school. Students and their dogs must pass all requirements and demonstrate their ability to train in order to graduate. We base our Graduation requirements on nationally recognized tests.  We score these tests  on the same exact rules of performance generated by AKC, UKC, DVG, NNDDA (National Narcotic Detector Dog Association), and other national and international kennel clubs. Employers in the dog care and training industry recognize our high standards and recognize the  value of TRS graduates for their company.

No! Don’t give up! At 10 months old he isn’t even yet a teenager and you wouldn’t give up on a 9 or 10 year old boy! I have an 11yo son: He still runs into things, eats the things I say he shouldn’t from the worktops and runs away from my side when we’re out and about too! haha.

We have also used the dog walking service and loved it. It’s super easy to set up and the walkers were trustworthy, prompt, and never skimped on time. I highly recommend both the daycare and the dog walking!

Drop your dog off with Partners between 8 and 4 pm, Monday to Friday, for daycare and a little training. Depending on your dogs personality we can also let them run and play in our playgroup sessions.

It’s important to start your labrador puppy training as early as possible (it’s never too late to start though!). Your cute little lab puppy will quickly grow to be a big powerful and excitable dog, which will be hard to control without some basic obedience training.

Most of the time we keep him in his crate which is large enough for him to stand and can easily stress his legs. Only for giving him food and potty we take him out and sometimes for playing with him till he gets exhausted and want to rest. Rest of the time he lives in the crate only and he is comfortable in it.”

You can also do more research online and through your city’s dog training club. “Clubs are great because they have lots of instructors, making it a good way to identify the best one for your family,” Reid says.

Wow, where to begin? Bull’s Eye (Jack Russell Terrier) kept us on a constant watch for escapes! Anytime the door was cracked open he would be on the loose and we would spend hours chasing him down or waiting for a phone call that someone had him. He pulled us around when we took him on the leash, barked non stop at other dogs, birds, squirrels, children etc. Basically, he trained us to move our lives around to suit him. But Sit Means Sit and JB gave me the dog of my dreams!! I can’t say enough about Sit Means Sit training and JB. I am a single mom and was concerned about spending the money on Bulls Eye but I knew I had to do it or we were going to loose him one day. So I did it. It was the BEST MONEY I have ever spent in my lifetime!!! His personality has not changed at all, he is still the wonderful, loving dog he has always been, but now he is obedient and a delight to take outside and other places. My neighbors are thrilled and constantly commenting on what a change they see in Bulls Eye. He is so much happier as am I. I am eternally grateful for Tom, JB and Sit Means Sit!! Sign us up for more training!!

If you can teach your dog polite manners without hurting or frightening her, why not do it? Rather than punishing her for all the things you don’t want her to do, concentrate on teaching your dog what you do want her to do. When your dog does something you like, convince her to do it again by rewarding her with something she loves. You’ll get the job done without damaging the relationship between you and your best friend.

They did not let my 13 month join as despite having the core vaccines, she does not have LEPTO 4 vaccine – my vet is perfectly happy with this. My last girl died 9 days after this vaccine so I was no…t letting my new girl have it. Dog School have refused us join advanced classes because she has not had LEPTO 4. Really upset 🙁 When my dog started puppy classes else where, they were perfectly happy that she hadn’t had this particular vaccine. See More

William Koehler was perhaps the first dog trainer who had encouraged dog owners to have a better bonding with their dogs. In fact, before that, dogs were considered as working animals, and were mostly kept in the backyard. His methods helped dog owners transform these animals into household pets. It is he who introduced the leashes and collars and explained their importance.
