For nearly four years, I learned not only how to handle dogs, but also a good deal of information about how to care for a dog throughout their entire life. I then took that knowledge and expanded it after being hired as a full time employee at Village Veterinary Medical Center in Farragut. I also expanded my furry family by adopting an owner surrendered, mostly blind Cornish Rex cat that I named Wisp. I sometimes think she’s a dog in a cat body because she fetches and definetly understands what it means when I change my tone of voice or use body language with her.
We also regularly host and instruct dog handlers and dog trainers from law enforcement and military organizations from around the world. We often work with large groups and offer group rates and discounts. Our Police K9 Instructor Courses are designed to give you all the skills that you need to train and certify Police K9 teams for detection, patrol, trailing and obedience. Our programs will teach you a variety of methods for training dogs in a number of areas. We maintain a number of dogs on-site that students can work with, in addition to dogs that they bring, to gain considerable hands-on experience during the course. Students enrolling in our Police K9 Trainer / Instructor programs vary in skill and experience level. Our goal is to customize each learning experience to meet the needs of the individual student. We also hold a General Services Administration Schedule 84 Contract which allows us to offer discounted pricing to Federal, State and local government agencies.
Niki is a Poodle/Bichon mix we adopted from the Humane Society. I immediately scheduled sessions with Pat. After just a few weeks, Niki sleeps willingly in her crate all night without a sound, waits for me to go through the door first, barks less and stops when I say, is polite with my family and visitors, and doesn’t pull on the leash or bark on walks. – Betty, Santa Rosa, CA
RD was absolutely fabulous with my dog Goose (and I). Within an hour of time together she had helped correct unwanted behavior and life was looking soooo much less stressful again! The plus side was that she taught us how to communicate, consider our energy and no treats were needed! We are going to work together again to master a few more challenges.
Dog behavior training is so much more than dog training! Dog behavior training combines a thorough understanding of dog behavior, canine learning theory, and hands-on dog training methods in order to create lasting behavior change. This is why our training methods have been referred by vets for over 26 years. It is applicable to all sorts of training needs, but is mandatory for the resolution of dog behavior problems such as aggression and anxiety.

When we brought Weezer home from the shelter, he had an unfortunate habit of nipping hard enough to draw blood. This was unacceptable around my grandchildren (ages 8 months, and 4, 8 and 9 years). The nine year old lives with me, and the others visit frequently, so I called the shelter and made arrangements to return Weezer. However, I’d heard of good results with board and train, and decided to try that before giving up on Weezer. Training Tracks has been wonderful with him—no more bi…
Achieving Labrador obedience also means understanding what constitutes a distraction and making sure you train for all the distractions your dog is likely to meet during the course of an average week or month.
Play safely while you supervise training. Never play roughly with a puppy that bites. Rough play will only encourage this behavior and strongly establish it in the puppy’s mind. Never use your hands as toys. You should also closely watch children playing around or with the puppy. Kids are not equipped to train a puppy and injuries can happen.
The collar does not magically impart the knowledge and skills of dog training to the guy holding the transmitter. Most folks buy an electric collar to solve a basic obedience problem, and they generally end up abusing the dog and not solving the problem, or trading one problem for an even bigger one. Proper training can solve nearly all problems in basic obedience, and you don’t need an electric collar to do so.

I am writing this letter to let you know what a great trainer you have in Tom Mancuso here in the Kansas City area. He has worked with our dog Trapper for 2 sessions now and has done wonders with him. We felt that our dog would never listen to us and be to excited to have company over. Never in my life would I have thought that my dog could do what he is doing now with such little time of training. Mr. Mancuso has been very professional and courteous on every appointment and seems to genuinely care about the progress of Trappers training. I have told everyone that I know who owns a dog about Sit Means Sit and will continue to do so. Keep up the great work.
I work with RD in an animal rescue group, One Tail At A Time PDX. She took in my foster pup who was having some issues, just out of a hoarding situation. She was suppose to meet a potential adopter in a couple days and was have a hard time with initial dog meetings and being in her crate. After RD had her for only 2 DAYS, she was like a different dog. The change was incredible. Her stress in those situations was gone. She interacted with her potential dog sibling perfectly. I believe that those days with RD set her up for a huge success. That family took her in on the spot and have since finalized her adoption. RD gave such great little tips that you don’t even realize could be affecting the pup in such a dramatic way. I was so impressed and am so grateful she is involved in the same organization as me. Rescue dogs AND more importantly rescue adopters will absolutely benefit from her assistance! She sets everyone up for success.

Remember that, early in training, your puppy does not know the meaning of the word. Therefore you could just as easily teach your puppy to sit with the word bananas (or sit in any other language) as you could with the word sit. The key is to associate the word, in this case “sit,” with the action of placing the hind end on the floor.

Our four year old german shepherd was very dominant towards other dogs due, mostly, to some bad experiences at the dog park. With Bryan’s training, (for us and her), we can hike and she can be around …other dogs again. He also taught us how to get her used to horses, goats, cats etc. She is now in Cascadia Canine doggie day care and doing great. Bryan is an excellent trainer that we highly recommend. See More

Some people just have an innate ability to connect with dogs and truly understand their behavior–RD is certainly one of those people! We welcomed 2 year old Charlie into our home about a month ago. …A loving, wonderful, smart dog–he aimed to please except that as soon as we put on a leash, he would just lay down. In one session, RD was able to have him trotting happily by our side–training US as well as him to identify the problematic behavior and correct it. She read him like a book, explaining to us what she was seeing as she saw it while simultaneously helping him to work through it. Thank you, RD!! See More

After ONE session with RD, we are seeing drastic improvement in our pup… ok, really it’s drastic improvement in ourselves. RD showed us how we have been giving the wrong signals to our dog, so while… trying to correct the behavior we were actually creer une sa the wrong behavior. We are filled with hope. For the first time in over a year, we went on a walk that was peaceful. I got home feeling calm rather than worked up, so did the pup– and because our dog is a 160 lb Mastiff, it’s the first walk that I didn’t have to immediately make an appointment with the chiropractor afterward!! Thank you, RD we are SOOOO incredibly grateful! See More
A puppy younger than 8 weeks old should be spending nearly all of its time with its mother and litter-mates because it learns so much about being a dog: Bite inhibition, canine communication, pack order, play, how to accept discipline and more besides. So taking a puppy any earlier is wrong and detrimental to their development.
